This was one of the keynotes held by Patrick Chanezon from VMWare. The slides were inspired by the movie "The Artist", and told the story of a developer who stops learning new things. This is one of the main danger in nowadays development: if we do not pay attention to current trends, we might get lost in the middle of new technologies.
So what are these trends we should pay attention to? According to Patrick Chanezon, there are three: Mobile, HTML5, and the Cloud.
He developped more on the Cloud, and more specifically CloundFoundry. Older cloud providers offered only the infrastructure. Newer ones such as CloundFoundry offer a complete framework. Also, CloundFoundry is open source, multi language, multi system and multi cloud. One interesting thing I learned is that you can also create a private cloud on your intranet. Is it a solution for server scalability?
